Determine update requirements
Customers' devices must meet the following requirements to update their software to the most current version:
- 50% or higher battery life
- Wi-Fi connection
- File size is 285.38 MB
Update software versions
Update automatically over the air (OTA) for Android version 5.0/N900TUVUFQD2
- From the Home screen, tap Settings.
- Tap the More tab.
- Tap About device.
- Tap Software update.
- Tap OK to check for the update.
Update from a computer
Follow the device requirements above, along with the following:
- Use a Samsung USB cable.
- Back up your data prior to completing the update.
During the update, do not:
- Use the device or press any keys.
- Remove the battery, if applicable.
- Turn off the device.
- Disconnect the USB cable until the update is complete.
You will not be able to place a call during the update, not even an emergency call.

- Connect the other end of the cable to your mobile device.
- Allow your computer to install any required drivers for your device. This process may take a few minutes.
- Open Smart Switch on your computer, and allow it to make the connection.
- If a software update is available for your device, Smart Switch will automatically prompt you to update. At any time, you can click Update.
- Click Update to begin downloading the necessary files.
- Click OK to proceed.Your device may turn off and on a few times during the update process. Once complete the device will return to the Home screen.
Issues after updating
If you experience issues after updating to the latest software version, follow these steps:
- Wipe your cache partition to make sure that all system files on your device are put back in order.
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time:
- Volume Up key
- Home key
- Power key
- When 'GALAXY Note 3' appears on the screen, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
- When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
- Press the Volume Down key to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache.
- With reboot system now highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.
- If wiping the cache partition does not work, you may need to perform a master reset.
- Back up data on the internal memory.
- From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap the General tab.
- Tap Back up and reset.
- If desired, tap Automatic restore to clear the check box.
- If desired, tap Back up my data to clear the check box.
- Tap Factory data reset.
- Tap Reset device.
- If you have screen lock turned on, enter your PIN or password. Tap Continue.
- Tap Delete all.

Install Android 5.0 Lollipop on Note 3 SM-N900
Step 1. Download the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop for GALAXY Note 3 SM-N900 here and extract the folder on your desktop.
Step 2.Download ODIN v3.09 which will help you to install Android 5.0 on your phone.
Step 3. Now boot your device in Download Mode. TO do this Press and hold the Volume Down + Home buttons together, and then press the Power button till you see the construction Android robot and a triangle. Press Power again to confirm to enter into Download Mode.
Step 4. Now connect your phone to the pc with USB cable and run the ODIN application on your desktop.
Step 5. Add the firmware file to AP / PDA. And make sure that Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time check boxes are selected in Odin. Also, ensure the Re-Partition option in Odin is not selected, check it ONLY if you selected a .PIT file in the above step.
Step 6. [IMPORTANT] Recheck all the setting once again, once you are sure that all setting are correct then hit the Start button from the ODIN application screen to start the update process.
Step 7. The flashing process will take some time, once the installation is done you will see the “PASS” message with green background on the ODIN application.
